Should You Choose Sedation Dentistry?
Does the thought of visiting the dentist make you cringe? Dental anxiety is a common problem in America; in fact, it is estimated about 30,000,000 to 40,000,000 Americans avoid the dentist each year due to their phobia. At Dr. Teeth Dental Care, we understand that dental anxiety is very real and want to provide every patient an opportunity to have a comfortable and relaxed visit to our practice. For this reason, we are proud to offer sedation dentistry in Houston, TX.
About Sedation Dentistry
Although there are various forms of sedation dentistry available such as oral sedation, IV sedation, and even general anesthesia, at Dr. Teeth Dental Care we offer laughing gas sedation. With laughing gas sedation, we are able to provide our patients with a more relaxed experience without the strong effects of some of the drugs used for dental sedation.
Laughing gas is administered using a tiny mask placed over the nose, oxygen and laughing as are combined and breathed in by the patient. Within a few moments, the patient will begin to feel relaxed, calm and sometimes even “heavy.” Unlike other sedation dentistry options such as oral or IV sedation, laughing gas sedation is quickly reversed and allows our patients to continue with their day almost immediately.
Who Needs Sedation Dentistry?
When it comes to our Houston sedation dentistry, we often recommend it for patients who:
- Need extensive dental work
- Have pharyngeal reflex
- Have sensitive teeth
- Have dental anxiety
- Have low pain tolerance
Sedation Dentistry for Children?
Laughing gas sedation has been proven to be safe and healthy for children, teens, and adults! Depending upon age, height, and weight the dosage can be adjusted for the best results.
