Benefits of Dentures
Dentures serve not only to replace missing teeth; they also help improve quality of life. Patients can smile freely, without embarrassment and enjoy eating again. Dentures also prevent sunken cheeks and lips, due to a lack of facial support from missing teeth.
Types of Dentures
- Complete Dentures – We recommend complete dentures for patients missing a whole set of upper or lower teeth, or those who need to have all their teeth removed. Complete dentures have a base that covers the entire upper or lower palate.
- Implant-Supported Dentures – A complete denture can be implant supported for a more stable, permanent fit. Many patients prefer implant-supported dentures, but not all are appropriate candidates due to health issues or a lack of sufficient bone.
- Immediate Dentures – Immediate dentures are a good option for some patients. Once the denture is crafted, the remaining teeth are extracted, and the appliance is placed right away. There is no wait for healing time, so you will never be without teeth. Immediate dentures are a good temporary solution for patients who are waiting for their final complete dentures to be created.
- Partial Dentures – A partial denture replaces one or more missing teeth when several healthy teeth are still intact. This type of removable dental appliance consists of prosthetic teeth fixed to a base that blends in with the gums and attaches to the adjacent natural teeth.
